ANCESTRAL RESISTANCE - ARCHAEOLOGICAL PLACE
"Our Amazon is the land of us forest people. The waters and the forest feed us, welcome us and shelter us. It is this place that the world witnesses the destruction"
Deforestation in the Amazon is a reality that consumes lives in the forest. Around 95% of the felling of trees on grain cultivation farms is illegal, but, even with clear evidence of criminal action, almost 60% of the harvest is purchased by two American giants, Bunge and Cargill, which exports 61% to China and 14% for the European Union. In addition to soy, cattle farming is linked to deforestation.
With deforestation, animals and us forest people lost our territories. Our rivers, lakes and streams are polluted, springs dry up. Archaeological sites are destroyed, erasing our memory left by our ancestors. The forest is our spirituality, our ancestry and our collective. It is our art of good living.
The artistic installation“Ancestral resistance presented” shows the dynamics of the expansion of the agricultural sector in the destruction of the Amazon, drawing the attention of the market that encourages, feeds and fuels deforestation.
